Consequences for Shoplifting from Walmart
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oregon
I am 18 years old and got caught stealing $30 worth of merchandise from Walmart. I admitted my crime to the employee who caught me and from what I was told I am going to be sued by Walmart. It's my first ever offense. I have my court date and I was wondering what my consequence is going to be. I have no idea what is going to happen in court. Should I plead guilty or not guilty? Which plea would help me in the long run? Also will I be eligible for a diversion program and do I need a lawyer to ask for a diversion program?
Re: Consequences for Shoplifting from Walmart.
Not guilty. Ask for a public defender (unless you can afford a lawyer). Ask for a Diversion Program.
Expect fines, courts costs, attorney/public defender fee, civil demand from WalMarts lawyers.
