Can You Pay Off a Judgment with Illegally Obtained Money
My question involves small claims court in the state of: PA
If money was obtained illegally by extortion, drug dealing, etc. then deposited into an account. Can the money be paid as restitution in a civil trial? \
As an example, a person harasses another. The person being harassed goes to court. Wins the law suit. The judge says it is okay to pay the person who was harassed using the illegally obtained money. Is that allowable or does the money get confiscated by the government?
Re: Can You Pay Off a Judgment with Illegally Obtained Money
If law enforcement comes in and takes the money away from the judgment holder due to its being derived by the defendant from unlawful activities, and the defendant did not make good on the debt, I would expect that the court would be happy to reopen the case such that the judgment holder could resume collection efforts.
Re: Can You Pay Off a Judgment with Illegally Obtained Money
If the judge and the local court knew the money was obtained illegally. They ordered payment from the illegally obtained money. Can they be held liable by Pennsylvania's District Attorney's office?

Are you planning on being sued by the poor FB person whose profile you appear to be...uh... "paying special attention to"?

No. Not at all. Those are separate issues. I will think of situations and post them here and see how the legal system will handle them.

The illegal money magically transforms into leaves at midnight. The debt is not satisfied.
Re: Can You Pay Off a Judgment with Illegally Obtained Money
I am having a very hard time envisioning a set of circumstances where the judge and/or DA specify what money is to be used when paying off a judgement.

If you want to post wild fantasy scenarios, I suggest that you relocate to a forum for fiction writers.

These are not wild fantasy scenarios.
