If LP Detains You for Shoplifting is it an Arrest
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Illinois
In 2012, at the age of 18 I was caught shoplifting at a local dominick's twice within a few weeks time. The value of the items each time was under $15. The security guard took a copy of my high school id and asked for my social security number. I don't know if this counts as being arrested or being convicted because I was never arrested before the shoplifting incidents. I was not taken to court, finger printed, or even made to pay a fine. All I was told was that I can't go back to this store. Will the shoplifting appear on my background check? When I have to fill out an application for a job will I have to say that I was arrested? I want to get into a program to become a cna and getting a background check is a requirements. Will the.shoplifting incidents disqualify me from being a cna or nurse? Is there anyway I can do a background on myself online for free or low cost? Does shoplifting stay on my record permanently and is there a way I can expunge it?
