Juvenile Caught Breaking and Entering a School
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Me and a friend jumped a fence at a school and tried to get into the gym to play basketball and nothing was broken or damaged ,I am 14 , and he is 15, he ran , but I did not , we were caught and handcuffed and driven to the police station where we waited for our parents , the Sherrif said that we would be contacted with a court date , so what's gonna happen ?
Re: Breaking and Entering
it is impossible to really say especially since you are minors.
I am curious: you say you tried to get into the school and nothing was broken. Did you ever get into the school? If you got into the school, how did you get in if nothing was broken or damaged?
Re: Breaking and Entering
After we jumped the fence we walked around and there was this door that looked like it could be an enterance to the gym so we went in( it was unlocked) and then my friend went out another door that lead to outside , there was a cop so he took off running back into the room I was in , we then walked over to where the portables were and were standing there a couple of minutes trying to figure out what to do and a cop with a dog came out and pulled his gun and told us to get down , we were then arrested and put in the back of the cop car and tooken to the police station, we had to sit there and wait till our parents got there and then the Sherrif said a case worker will be contacting you with a court date ?
Re: Breaking and Entering
Expulsion is a distinct possibility.

No one can say. Did they provide any paperwork indicating the possible charges? Did they tell you whether the offense was vandalism, trespassing, or something else?
What COULD happen can be somewhere between nothing (as in, you might never hear from anyone), or, a court trial and juvenile hall if there is a true finding. We can't predict what MIGHT happen.
And, if this is your school or school district, a suspension or expulsion from school is a real possibility.
