Sheriff's deputy witnesses assault and battery
If a sheriff's deputy claims to have witnessed an assault and battery, does he have to arrest the person right there on the spot of the supposed crime scene?

No, although it would not be unusual.

So, he does have the power to arrest the person if he sees a crime committed?

You're trying to shape the answer through the form of your inquiry. Nobody here knows the facts you're tiptoeing around.

If the on duty deputy is a witness to the crime and he actually stepped in between an assault and battery, does he have the right to arrest the perpetrator?
