Parent is Allowing a Preteen to Date an Adult
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
My grand daughter is twelve. Her mother allows her to see a young man that graduated high school last year. So at the youngest he would have been 17 years old. Reasoning he is now 18 years old. His FB page states he is 19, along with his occupation listed as 'getting hoes'. She will be 13 in January and in her words dating him for five months. He dumped her a month a go and now is back in her life. I had posted concerns that she was way to young for transactions that were taking place and was advised by her that her momma lets her and nothing I can do about it. Her mother posted nasty comments advising me to mind my own business. Things I see and hear from all of my grands leaves me extremely concerned for safety reasons. I also had reasons to suspect she may be pregnant but am told that is not true. Mother has custody via divorce. I'm lost as to what to do. Would this be statutory rape, and would the mother be also liable in some way? So worried.
