What Happens Now-Caught Shoplifting
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky
I was a seasonal employee at Macy's. During a random bag search, it was discovered that I had merchandise in my bag not listed on the receipt. I was allowed to leave. I returned to work the next day, and a hour into my shift was called to LP. I confessed to taking the merchandise (about $35). I signed a statement. I was provided a number to call the following day. I did so, although the person in Human Resources I was to contact was not available.
I was given a "suspension" letter, although I know I am fired.
Besides having my name on the Retail Theft Database, what should I expect to happen?
I am remorseful beyond words and will never understand why I was so stupid.
Any suggestions, I will be contacting the Human Resources department again today.

A civil demand letter at the very least, possibly a court appearance.

And you will not be able to file for Unemployment either. Well, you can file but you will likely be denied.
