When Does Unemployment End
Hi Everyone. Seeing as unemployment benefits might expire this weekend for all of us. Im still collecting unemployment from the month of October due to my ex-employer having to dispute my case twice. Im still on my 1st extension anyways will my unemployment end this weekend as well?
Thanks everyone
Re: When Does Unemployment End
Hard to tell. I think you're stating things incorrectly. First, you didn't mention your state, or if you were on UI in the past. Normally, starting a claim in October, you wouldn't run out of the STATE claim until the following April unless you are in one of the really stingy states.
I don't think you're on your 1st extension. I think you are on your STATE claim. Extensions don't come into play until after your state claim is exhausted
The cut off for 12/28 only affects claimants collecting EUC benefits which are funded by the federal government. Your state claim is paid by your state and is not affected by the EUC cut off date.
Re: When Does Unemployment End
Hi chyvan,
Thanks for responding. Let me clarify. I live in California and I last collected unemployment on 2011 for 2 months. Ive been collecting unemployment since February 2013 but my ex-employer protested 2 times which obviously delayed my benefits for about 2 months. Ex-employer protested on June and later on August and took 1 months delay to win my benefits back. I resume collecting on July and later on the last week of August (My last state claim benefits). If i remember correctly I started collecting my 1st extension on the middle of September. I mailed back my claim form just last week and it clearly showed " Benefits claiming form 10-29-13 and to mail claim form back on 12-16-13" I guess time will tell if I will receive my back pay.
Re: When Does Unemployment End
With the new dates you provided, you are on an EUC extension, and your last week to claim will be 12/28. You'll get to file for that prior time period after 12/28, but you won't be paid for any claims you submit for weekending dates after that date, but you should submit them anyway just to be safe. EUC has had gaps in the legislation in the past. In the event that EUC is extended, you'll kick yourself if you stopped claiming because you thought it would be for nothing. Those that kept claiming during the gaps got retro paid for all the weeks they filed claims for, and those that let their claims lapse didn't receive the retro pay.
