Does Child Support Amount Change When the Payor Retires
My question involves child support in the State of: New York
I am a New York City peace Officer with 22 years on the job. I'm eligible for retirement and have an existing child support order. My question is, in the event that I do retire, can that bi-weekly order be modified due to a change in income that will be on a monthly basis and earning far less than on active duty?
Any advice and/or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Maybe. However if this is all completely voluntary...including the choice not to pursue some other form of employment to supplement your retirement, then you should expect the argument to be made that your children should not have to suffer due to your voluntary choices.
