Can I still be emancipated?
I will be 17 in March, and I swear Im about to lose my mind if I stay in my mothers house anymore. The only thing that is seriously stopping me is she will use the fact that she thinks I am "bipolar" against me if I try to be emancipated...I mean she thinks I'm so crazy she got me on social security so that she can have money...Will this help her stop me from being emancipated in Texas? And Will I be able to live with my 20 year old (he will be when i turn 17) boyfriend when I turn 17? I'll provide more information about my story if neeeded

If a doctor deemed you disabled enough to be collecting social security, I don't think a judge will emancipate you. Are you on disability because of being diagnosed as bi-polar? If so, then just so you know, a doctor won't do so just because the mom claimed that you are, there must have been things that happened, for a doctor to declare you disabled for social security. Sorry hon, I just don't see that happening.
Re: Can I still be emancipated?
the doctor my mother made me see never acctually talked to me...they talked to my mother...which i didnt find right...and i dont ever recall talking to anyone about/from social security...

Are you saying that you collect (or your mom does) social security checks, and your doctor, nor anyone from the social security office has even met you?
Re: Can I still be emancipated?
I have met the doctor yes, but the only time i have ever spoken to her by myself was the day after my grandfather died, what person wouldnt be depressed after that, and I wasnt even alone when I talked to her then, my mother was in there pretty much speaking for me as she always does. As for the social security situation, I do not recall ever speaking to anyone from their offices. I have someone who can vouch for me.
Re: Can I still be emancipated?
Well honey, I hate to say it, but irreguardless, I don't see a judge granting you emancipation. I am very sorry.
Re: Can I still be emancipated?
thats alright, I figured that would be the case thank you so much for your help
