Can I Be Charged With Trespassing for Dropping Off a Letter
My question involves criminal law for the state of: illinois
Hi all
I live in chicago.
I recently had a dispute with my landlord. I broke the lease and moved out. Today I had to drop off a letter for the landlord. The intercom was still hooked up to my cell phone, I buzzed myself in and dropped the letter into his mailbox. Now I am really worried that he will claim unautjorized entry or something and attempt to charge me with tresspassing. There was no eviction, I left on my own. Can I be prosecuted?

Can you be prosecuted? Of course.
Will you be prosecuted? Impossible to predict, but unlikely.
Even if the landlord reports it to the police, I doubt that the police will get involved.
You did keep a copy of the letter I hope.
