Pressing Child Sexual Abuse Charges After the Victim Turns 18
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Florida

My daughter was sexually molested by her older cousin when she was young. She is now 18. We want to press charges. It is not about money. We want to make sure he is outed and does not do it to someone else.I know. This is going to be a civil case and do not expect to recover any monetary compensation, but can the cousin be labeled as a sex offender and espouse make him responsible for paying for our attorney fees? Also, what kind of lawyer am I looking for?

How old was the cousin when it happened?

You don't NEED a lawyer to press charges. The victim makes a police report, and it's up to the STATE to prosecute any possible criminal case. Why is she only coming forward NOW?

A civil case will not label him a sex offender, nor will it compel him to pay your attorney fees.
