Does Child Support End if the Chid You're Supporting Has a Baby
My question involves child support in the State of: texas
My husband has a daughter who just turned 18 this week. She recently had a baby in March. Her mother took my husband of off child support, but they made an agreement for him to pay her weekly, in which he does. My question is, I recently was told that since she now has a baby, my husband does not have to pay her any more. She is still a senior in high school....

If the court order says he pays until 19 or graduates from high school, he pays until the court changes the order.

Or, to put it another way, unless the court order specifically and in so many words says that he is excused from paying if she has a baby, then he pays until the current order either expires or is changed by the court.

No judge is likely to excuse your husband from supporting his daughter just because she is pregnant or already raising a child.

What is the exact wording of the court order?

There isn't a court order anymore. The mother took my husband off, so now they do it between each other..but if he doesn't pay, then she will take him back...I was, just curious because I have a friend who has a lawyer and that lawyer told him if his daughters ever become preg, he wouldn't have to pay. That it would be the responsibility of the baby's father...

He doesn't have to support his grandchild, no. But he IS still legally obligated to support HIS child.

    The lawyer is apparently clueless.

Pregnancy does NOT automatically relieve the obligation. At all. Ever. In any State. New Mom's baby daddy, btw, is not responsible for supporting her. Just the child.
