Can You Get Emancipated Based on Early Child Abuse
My question involves child abuse or neglect in the State of: Majority in Texas, then Georgia, and a little in Virginia.
I am a 16 year old currently living in the state of Virginia. A majority of the abuse occurred in Texas, when I was 5. My mother beat me with belts, shoes, and sometimes fly swatters. My dad was deployed a majority of the time so he couldn't help. My mom also starved me because I didn't want to eat what she was making. My dad is a witness because when he came back from being deployed, he saw how skinny I was. They just kind of slid it under the rug. They continued to beat me until I was about 11. Now I suffer from depression and they verbally abuse me. Am I legible for emancipation? If so in what state? And can my mom be prosecuted? What state?

You have absolutely no chance of being emancipated.

However, the abuse can still be reported. What happens afterwards depends quite a bit on what can be proven.

Your mom did not starve you. You chose not to eat. Punishment of that type is legal in Texas as long as it has not been declared abuse by a court. You are not even close to meeting any kind of grounds for emancipation. Stricter punishment maybe.

You haven't mentioned how you are now living on your own and paying 100% of your own support. If you are not doing that, then you are not eligible for emancipation (which is NEVER granted on the basis of something that happened 11 years ago but ONLY on your CURRENT, PROVEN record of self-support.
