I live in arizona and about a month ago I was busted for having a pack of cigs on me and got a court date, I've never been to court before so I have no idea what to expect, what's it like there? What's going to happen to me?(I know nothing to bad will-.-) how long will it take? And last am I gonna get a fine and if so how much?
What happens in court depends on the nature of the proceeding. Different things happen at arraignments, bail hearings, pretrials, motion hearings, trials, sentencings, etc.
How long it takes? That depends upon how busy the court's docket is, and when your case is called. You can sometimes be scheduled for a case at 1:30 and not get out of court until 5:00, for example, even though the issues before the court can be addressed in a matter of minutes when your case is called.
