Can Posting on Public Forums Make You a Public Figure
I have, in my lifetime, been both plaintiff and defendant in liable lawsuits and been hit with a few SLAPP suits so I am fairly familiar with the torts and the case law. I was a public figure.

I have been pondering and trying to research if someone can make themselves (by design or inadvertently) a limited purpose public figure by virtue of posting on popular social media and forums.

Let's say that you are a member of a popular forum who has posted thousands of posts and have created some degree of controversy. People know who you are in the craft that the forum covers. Did you make yourself a public figure?

Laws vary by state. The rest depends on the facts.
