The forum is full of cops. The name expert law is misleading, as most people here are looking for defense advice.
actually I think two of the regular posters are cops. The rest are a variety of brilliant people just wanting to help out where they can.

A lot posts here are asking for help, thinking this is "expert" law. But you end up meeting more cops.
The cops are not on your side. Their job is to arrest and get you. Why are they here? I can do that job too. It's easy to be that hero and point out one's fault.
In a family, it's always easy to point our your spouse's problem. Most the time, you have the same problem yourself.
Don't take pride in how many people you can arrest, take pride how many people you can help.
Re: Argued with Police Charged with 4th Degree, Should I Fight or Plea?
as I said, the cops are far in the minority around here.
the problem is that we choose to address the legal issue. You simply want a way to escape being held liable for your crime.
and while you love to hate the cops, one of the most helpful posters here, even in terms of suggesting viable defenses, is a cop. The problem is; where you are stupid and break the law and have no valid defense, there really isn't anything anybody can do for you.
Re: Argued with Police Charged with 4th Degree, Should I Fight or Plea?
When I was a kid, I had a tailored uniform because I wanted to be a cop. So, I don't hate cops.
But that does not mean I am going to let any of them be abusive.

Actually, no. There are TWO officers that are regular posters here and I am the only one that has replied so far.
As a note, at least one attorney has also replied to you.

As a percentage, officers probably make up a minute percentage of the total number of "senior" posters here. Probably in the single digit percentage.

Hmm ... sorry ... not seeing that as the primary part of my job description. Making arrests (based on probable cause) is one line of about 25 in my job description, but none of those apply here on this forum as I arrest precisely zero people here.

When/if you go to court, you will be facing the same questions. If you want cheerleaders, there are anti-cop websites that will high five you and encourage you to go into court with your proverbial sixguns blazing. But, that does nothing to prepare you for the tough questions that might be ahead.
As was pointed out, these charges did not occur in a vacuum. You WILL have to deal with the officers' statements and perceptions, and you may well have to explain YOUR actions that led the officers to believe that you were a problem such that they had to arrest you for the charges alleged. You can pretend that they don't exist and that you were the victim of a great wrong, but that wishing doesn't make the charges go away.

As the only one here who arrests people, I can say that I do. If you knew my background, you'd know that. But, you are judging me based solely on the fact that I don't buy the apparent claim that a dispassionate, reasonable and articulate Michael was brutally put to the ground and arrested simply for engaging in polite but firm discourse with the parking folks and the officers. If disagreement equals something heinous in your book, life is going to be quite difficult for you.

cdwjava,
You response above claims you were preparing a defendant for "tough" questions.
But what your posts don't match your claim. Your posts assume and then accuse the defendant of wrongdoing.
No, that does not help, sorry!

Sorry Mikey old chap, but we don't do "telling the poster what they want to hear".

So, are you saying that you were engaged in polite, calm discourse and not doing anything that MIGHT have been construed as disruptive, argumentative, threatening, etc.?
What good would it do for me to tell you that you are absolutely right then you go to court and are confronted with the other side of the coin and witnesses that say you did something entirely different than you claim here? Do you think, "Gee, they told me that I was right and the cops were bad and evil ... what happened?"
Sorry, but unless you can rebut the accusations against you by raising reasonable doubt (if the DA files charges and you go to court), a court is likely to hold you accountable. The way to do that is to understand what the prosecution is likely to allege. To make the accusations stick, they will have to allege that you did all those things so you need to consider your actions and whether they could be seen as problematic ... not whether YOU think they were disturbing or threatening or unreasonable, but whether someone else might have seen your demeanor that way.

Oh I can absolutely and without question confirm that I've helped far many more people than I have arrested people.
In fact, my record of arresting people is dismally low.
