Minor Caught Shoplifting with Minor Friend Who Has History of Shoplifting
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Washington state. Today my daughter went to the Tacoma mall with her friend , they were in spencers and both were caught shoplifting. My daughter has never done this before but her friend has. No police were called and I did not sign anything. They are banned from the mall and surrounding shopping centers. What should I expect to happen from here.

First, you can expect a Civil Demand Letter from the store or it's lawyers. The minimum and maximum amount varies by state. Pay this, or the store can send you a few more requests, then sue you, win a judgment, screw your credit rating if you still don't pay.
The store does have 1-2 years (again, varies by state) to press Criminal charges. Since I assume your daughter is a minor....you're responsible to pay any criminal fees that may arise. If charges are filed, a lawyer is a good idea.
I'd make your kid get a McJob or shovel snow to pay you for her legal costs.
The teens....they can be arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass if even in the parking lot....so stress that to them.
