For future reference. Even a moderate whack on the head, can create serious medical issues for people suffering from medical conditions such as seizures. That the person hitting on the head or whipping the ball at their head is not aware of.

I just can't believe that....who are you to say "she needs a serious wake up call" you have no idea what the situation even is? you would think someone working law has an understanding of the complexity and situations that can arise and that quick judgment is the worse thing that can be done.

this is not a place for your judgment. if you are not here to help leave.

Disagreeable, again fair point you are right She has good parents I'm sure they will explain this. But lets please note that accidents happen and kids do stupid things! even the best of them!

You don't get to pick who responds, pal.

And I don't need to know what the circumstances are to know that someone needs to get it through to this kid that her actions were WRONG. If her parents haven't gotten that across to her yet, then something else will have to do it. Hopefully it won't take a criminal charge to get through and being talked to by the police will do it. But you aren't seriously trying to tell me there is EVER a valid reason to hit someone with a binder to the point where the hit-ee has to receive medical attention, and then call it a joke, are you? You aren't really trying to say that Princess's actions were acceptable?

No. Of course not. Someone who has such a strong sense of how other people are expected to behave couldn't possibly be defending Princess committing an assault.

I don't know if she committed assault. I'm not putting any bias on things...you are though and I have no idea why?

Why are you so hostile? I don't understand your purpose in this.

    Why are you down-playing this?

This child used an OBJECT against someone else. This was no accident, and you know it.

the student hit a peer on the head with a binder.

That is an assault. Since you apparently don't understand it.

I understand you are enjoying the benefits of anonymity on the internet but please calm down.

Anonymous? Mention cbg in pretty much any busy forum that deals with HR issues and they know who she is. You, on the other hand, keep talking to that mirror....

When you go to talk with the police, understand that the police are looking for grounds to make an arrest. That is the job of the police. The person of interest should not make a statement to the police other than to say, "I have nothing to say". If the police already have enough evidence of a crime, they will make the arrest any way. There is nothing that can be said to stop the arrest if they have enough evidence to make one. If they don't have enough evidence, talking with them can give them enough evidence to make an arrest. If an arrest occurs an attorney will be needed. Either hire one, or take a public defender. That is the person this individual needs to talk to. Not the police.

By the way, hitting someone as a joke is not okay any more than shooting someone as a joke or electrocuting someone as a joke. In fact, it is a crime. So... if you say, "Yes, I hit him, but it was a joke..." you can expect an arrest to occur. That is why you/they/whoever should keep your/their mouth shut.

The tone of this forum is just really hostile. Its very surprising...Again its interesting to think of the way people handle themselves here if it was in real life. I'm sure non of you conduct yourselves like this when talking to people in person.

Thank you, that is also helpful.

Should assume that hostile = not what you want to hear?
