Does Marrying a Citizen Speed Up Naturalization for a Permanent Resident
Hi, i became a permanent resident since May 09 thru the petition of my father which makes me eligible to apply early next yr for citizenship however I got married today with my long time boyfriend and he is a US citizen. Will that speed up my process for naturalization? Please advice. Thanks.

It won't make any real difference at this point, no.

Re: Us Permanent Resident Just Got Married to a Citizen
To expand on what doggy said, marriage to a US citizen shortens the five year residence requirement to three years, but only if those three years are spent married. Three years married will be longer than you would be entitled to under the five year schedule you're currently on. As Doggy said, it won't help you at this point.

Remember, that you can start the naturalization application 90 days in advance of your five years are up.
