How Long Do You Have to Move a Car After a Tow Sticker is Attached
My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: florida
When you receive a tow sticker how long do you have before they can tow the vehicle?

    Re: Tow Sticker Laws
That would depend on the laws applicable to the area, agency and reason.

My car was towed from my drive way. The reason why it was towed was because of an expired tag but if the security would have run the registration it would of shown it as it being up to date I just hadn't received my sticker in the mail yet. The security guard slaped a sticker on my car at 2am then towed it at 7am. I was told that if they slap a tow sticker on your car that you had 12 to 24 hrs before they could tow it. i wanted to know if that is true and if so where i can find it.

You were "told" wrong. They don't even have to sticker your car. It can be towed at any time provided the lot is appropriately posted.

Since it was towed out of the OP's driveway...obviously there was no posted "lot".

Security guards don't "run" registrations. POLICE can do that. But if the vehicle is in violation of city or county ordinance, such as not having the sticker affixed, then the vehicle is subject to tow - even if the registration is paid. The burden is on YOU to make sure that you've GOT the sticker AND that the sticker is actually ON the tag. Or, you could put the vehicle in a garage so that it's not visible from the roadway. But every county in Florida makes it a violation under "junked or abandoned vehicle" ordinances to have a vehicle visible from the street if the vehicle doesn't have a current valid sticker ON the tag to make the vehicle in compliance with the law. Sounds to me like security was just making it easier for the tow company to find the vehicle by slapping the sticker on it. Next year, make sure you renew in time for your sticker to come in the mail, or, go TO the office and get the sticker in person.

All the law requires apparently is the expired tag be visible to allow predatory towing.

Doubtful it was predatory. It appears the security company who was authorized to do so ordered the tow. More information is needed here. What sort of property was this. Why did the security company have any authorization to apply stickers or otherwise order tows? Was this really a driveway or some common area in a condo?

Predatory in the sense the third party security did this with a prior agreement with a specific towing company to yank resident cars on a phone call.

if the car is not in use and not used on a public highway, is a tag required? check your state statues.

is this in a condo or something? your condo assoc. rules would come into play if so.

and is it fully on your land? really?
