Fines for Marijuana, Paraphernalia and Tobacco Possession As a Minor
Without going into detail, I'm 15 years old and I was just charged with possession of small amount of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and tobacco in possession of a juvenile..
I was searched at school by the police that patrols our school. He found a little less than a dub ($60; about 3 grams) and a pipe in my backpack and a pack of cigarettes and a pipe in my friends purse that I also had. I know that I'll be going to court but don't know when and I know I'll be going to treatment, I just want to know beforehand if I'm going to be fined and how much it would be? I don't want to make my parents pay for my stupid mistake but I also don't want to be in debt at 15, that's just even more sad and, at the moment, my job is seasonal and I only worked part time so I don't have really have the money to pay off anything too expensive.
My mom has told me before that the charge for just paraphernalia is at least $500 now and I can't even afford that.
Please please pleasee tell me anything you know, I really need it. Thank you!

My advice would be to start raking leaves, get ready to shovel snow, etc. Your parents are responsible for your fines, it is up to you to figure out how to pay them the money.

Thank you so much but, well I know that I need to find a way to make money, that's always been a priority, I just want to know how long I need to be saving for and how much is finally going to be enough.
Could you make an estimate or anything of the cost or do you not know for sure?

Court costs and fines vary be each city, county, state, and case....so there is no way to predict it. Your prosecutor may be easy on first time offenders....or want to teach them a hard and expensive lesson.

Since you were caught at school, it is possible to be expelled. Likely, there will be drug/alcohol classes, and also random testing (all at your parents expense).

Seriously....if you think $500 is bad....you are really looking at a couple thousand.....

Outcomes can vary enormously in juvenile court based upon the facts of the case, your school, home, community and prior police record, and the amount of intervention a juvenile court judge deems necessary to get you back on the right track.

I figured that, definitely not expecting less than $1500.
I know that I won't be expelled though because I was suspended for three days which isn't great but it's better than expulsion. Thank you so much for all of that!
