Assault and Battery by an Ex-Boyfriend
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: new york
A couple days my younger sister (17 years old) was attacked by her ex boyfriend at school. He followed her to her car told her to get out and as she said no he launched himself through her open drivers side window and clawed her in the eye, slapped her twice, and punched her once all in the face. She reported it to the school cop and decided to press charges and the cop went to his house and he denied the incident so he was issued a ticket to appear in court. There was one witness who stated she saw the incident. What should we expect as the punishment for this boy. He is not 18 but will be eighteen in less than a month.
Re: Juvenile Assault/Battery Case
The punishment depends on the crime. Since we don't know if he is being charged with simple battery or a domestic violence battery, it's hard to say. He may spend time in custody, or, he may get probation. Or, he may not be charged or convicted at all.
Your sister might want to look into the possibility of a protective order of some kind.
