Will Employers Find Out About My Misdemeanor Record
My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
Hello
So I wanted to find out about something.
I had a misdemeanor back in 2008. My case was expunged and recently I did a background check on myself through California DOJ and through the FBI with fingerprint checking.
Both agencies sent me a letter back stating that they have no records on me.
So I wanted to know, does this mean I can apply for Government Type Jobs? City, county or State/Federal?
I am assuming if both agencies did not find any records on me then I have the same chances as any body else applying for jobs in a government type setting?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Re: Will Employers Find Out About My Misdemeanor Record
Some employers will require you to disclose your entire criminal history, even though you obtained a dismissal. Some background checks will pick up dismissals. So whether or not an employer discovers the misdemeanor is going to depend on the employer and the nature and extent of the background check.
