Emancipation is intended for teens who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves in a position where they need to legal ability to get the power switched to their name, etc.

There's a reason why even in the states that DO have statutory allowances for emancipation the courts will look for just about any reason to deny the petition.

I know - it's not what you want to read. But it is the reality. And let's face it - you're both 16. The chances of you being together in even two years are slim.

Thank you! We finally got somewhere. Alright. SO, even if I cant become emancipated, is there anyways I can legally move to Indiana without my parents moving there?

And nust to clarify, this isnt a couple of months relationship. Ive known her since we were in grade school. Its not "fake love". Its a friendship that Ive had for ages. But I dont expect you to understand that. I know it was a fat chance in hell, I was just wondering what my options were.

Until you are 18, you cannot move anywhere unless your parents give you permission.

Presumably with girlfriend's parents...since there isn't a landlord going to rent a place to a 16 year old ;)

Rent can average $600 a month. PLUS water, electric, heat, trash.....can you afford that?

Then the cost of food.

Things like toilet paper, kleenex, soap, dish detergent, dish clothes, towels, toothpaste and floss. Add in health care. transportation. Can you afford this while obeying Child Labor Laws that limit how many hours you work?
