    Grandparents Rights in Arkansas
I am a grandparent of 6 the problem is my 20 year old daughter has 2 boys, oldest is Landon 4 & layne is turning 1 on September 21st my daughter isn't and never has been married and both boys are from two different men for lack of a better word. Now she is pregnant again by yet another male making 3 kids with 3 different males. The boys have spent time with me and my wife of 9 years 11 years together total. I had custody of my daughter and I adopted my wife's son and we made a nice family and we had a child of our on. My question is what rights do we have as grandparents to my daughters 2 illegitimate boys she has now. We have a good relationship with these boys, and love and want the best for them. When my wife picks them up Landon the 4 year old runs to her smiling and repeating nana, nana, nana. Can we get them as much as every other weekend?

You have no rights. Not at all. Be nice to Mom and hope that she'll let you see the children.

If you sue her (and you'll have to sue the father/s too), and you lose, you'll likely never see them again.

And if you sue and somehow win, there's no way you'll get every other weekend. You'll be lucky to get one overnight per month.

Please, rethink this. Suing your own child creates a very hostile situation.

Is there a reason you are asking this?

A parent generally has the right to determine who their children see. If you want to see the children more, you need to discuss that with your daughter.

This is really for the sake of any grandparent who is thinking about suing for grandparent visitation:

You are not going to get every other weekend unless you live in NY or PA and even then, a decent attorney can get that reduced.

You must be prepared for the parents to become hostile towards you, and resentful. You must be prepared for a lengthy court battle, costing a lot of money, and you must be prepared to lose.

In some states, you don't even have standing to sue. If that's the case, it's a done deal - you can't even file a petition.

In the states which do allow grandparents standing, it's often restricted - meaning that (for example) you can only file if your child (the parent) has died. Or, you've raised the grandchildren or provided full care for a certain amount of time.

I would advise any grandparent to think very seriously about what they're proposing.

Not my intentions to sue my daughter, but any decent person should be concerned when there 20 year old daughter is having a 3rd child from 3 different men and will not answer her phone to her father that I provide for her by paying the Bil. I told her she could move back in with me and her mom and our two sons. Her and her two boys could live here as long as it took for her to get through college and not have to depend on the state for a place to live & food stamp card to eat and me and mom to pay phone bill and sometime the electric bill and keep her car fixed when it breaks down because if your like me you would like to see your tax dollars going to help house all our war vets that are homeless in little rock Arkansas instead of supporting this type of behavior. Let me clear something up. First child at 15 when she would go to he biological mothers house, her 15 him 23, pays no CS even though its been court ordered, 2nd baby daddy in prison, 3rd baby daddy 20 years old no school no job and they live with his parents, that makes a total of 10 people living In a 1500 SQ foot house. Eating with food stamps from her. Said he has a full ride scholarship to any school he wants to go to, all his facebook talks about is smoking pot and sleeping and said gonna go live In OK on a Indian reservation. WTF. They will NEVER take my grandsons to a Indian reservation, over my dead body will that ever happen. Living off our tax dollars and our WAR HEROS living on the streets. Something is wrong with the system and it needs to be addressed.

Her having children with different people is none of your business.

If you don't want to pay for her phone, don't pay for it.

Excuse me? Do you realize you have absolutely NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER here? You have NO chance of preventing Mom from living on an Indian Reservation (and your obvious hatred is somewhat disturbing - I'd be keeping my kids away from you, too).

And please - enough with the War Hero bull. My daughter did her turn in Afghanistan, thanks. And she doesn't use it as an excuse to be a jerk about certain things.

If Mom has any sense, she'll move as quickly as she can away from the toxic grandparents.

    Because honestly, you're toxic.

(And really - you're so eager to insult and degrade your daughter...now who raised her again? Oh - was that you? Good job you did, eh?)

So, you think you bought the right to see the kids because you pay for her phone? Then turn it off. That is not going to give you any rights.

and? She is not obligated to accept such a generous offer. Given the tenor of your statements, I suspect if the offer was extended to me, I too would have to turn it down.

well, your choice is your choice. Does your wife have your wishes in writing already? Make sure you take care of that before you go and get yourself terminated.

If you didn't sound like such a jerk I would think you are actually a concerned father but the tirade makes you look like a controlling jerk.

Well, I'd guess that this is exactly why your daughter needs to make sure you are nowhere near those children.

Have you sought therapy for your anger problems? I would recommend that.

Please have your daughter sign up. I have no problem helping her make sure you never poison those poor innocent minds with your...venom.

    Good night! :)

    just because:

    I'm not on welfare

and you need to check your numbers on that 75% claim.

the number of homeless in 2012 was 633,782. HUDs figures for homeless vets in 2012 was 62,619.

That makes the percentage of homeless that are vets at 9.8%. A far cry from the 75% you claim.

If you want to be such an ass, you might first want to make sure the info you claim is correct. Now, not only are you an ass, you are an ass that doesn't know what he is talking about.
