Plea Guilty or Not Guilty
My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: New York
I'm 18, had my fake id taken by a cop (it was not taken from because I had used it, he just saw it on me). Instead of giving me a misdemeanor he just gave me a traffic ticket with the description "other use of license". Should I plea guilty or not guilty? and do I need a lawyer? thank you
Re: Plea Guilty or Not Guilty
Consult a lawyer if you already have a bad driving record and are facing license suspension or revocation.
On the other hand if this is your first ever traffic citation you would be wise to just pay the fine and be done with it.
Getting this into a courtroom runs the risk that the charge gets amended once the judge and/or the prosecutor learns all the facts.
Having a fake ID was incredibly stupid.
You get to dodge a bullet by just quietly paying your fine and getting over it.
Make sure you destroy the fake ID. It's only purpose is to get you into bars so you can drink. You don't need to be doing that either.
Think about the consequences of crimes before you do them instead of lamenting after you get caught and prosecuted.
Re: Plea Guilty or Not Guilty
is there a statute or code number listed on the ticket?
