My mom's dad says he isn't the father
My mom was born in Ohio in 1958. Her father in question left a year later to be with another woman he go pregnant. Through the internet I was able to call him and talk to him. He denied being the father and said he went to court over it and passed a lie detector test and a blood test. He is now living in Florida. My mom is just looking for closure and does not want any money. Can you have a court ordered DNA test since that technology was not available in 1958?

If ma does not want anything, then why does she want to file a lawsuit against him?
Re: My mom's dad says he isn't the father.
She has never met him. She wants closure so she knows in fact that he is her father. Since he said he was cleared in the 50's he will not willing give up his DNA for testing.

Okay, get together about $50K and three years and sue the guy to get "closure" (whatever that may mean).
Good luck.
Re: My mom's dad says he isn't the father.
No not 50K the 1950's when she was born. He told me a lie detector test proved my mom is not his child. Now in 2006 a DNA test is 99.99% correct. Also I would like to know about medical history since I just had a child. I have no clue what is on that side of that family which is 1/4 me.
He won't take a paternity test to prove yes or no. So I need to see if the state of Ohio where she was born can tell him he has to take the test.
Re: My mom's dad says he isn't the father.
Seniorjudge you are I'm sure absolutely right about not being able to make him take a DNA test. I know what Geoffaree means by closure. Men have gotten by for years with denial of kids and women has gotten by with lying about who the real father is. DNA has corrected the argument and shinned a light on liars. Adults make decisions for kids and kids have to bear that burden for the rest of their lives, but the guilty party just want to live a peaceable life and die with the truth going with them to the grave. The children can't live this peaceable life. Children like myself have been deny the basic right to know who they are. Men deny money, food, peace of mind to kids when these things mean the most to them. Do you know how it feels when on the first day of school comes around and you have a mound of forms to fill out and each one of the those forms have a line asking for your fathers name? By your answer to Geoffaree I say not. Do you know what it feels like to see a single loving mother year after year try to give you the bear necessities and some time come up short. By your answer to Geoffaree I say not. Closure means after denying a child all those things and more he now want to deny you your name. All I want is to know that after all these years is that he has been a liar. If not at least I know I don't have a sorry father just a uninformed one. Some where in their infinite wisdom they think we didn't hurt and shouldn't be hurting now. They as you do think we should get over it. No amount of money can by back night spent wondering why don't he love me like he love the kids he had with his wife. Only children that have lived this type of life can understand closure.
So Geoffaree hang in there there is justice. I think I will address a brother to get some answers.
Re: My mom's dad says he isn't the father
Wow.. I was feeling like I wasn't getting my point across. I actually called my "grandfather" twice the second time I had the guts to tell him who i was and he still said i don't know what you are talking about so i kept giving names and places and FINALLY he said oh yeah she tried to sue me in 1959 but I passed a blood test and Lie detector test. I honestly feel bad for my mother she is going to be 50 soon and still doesn't know if that is the truth. Even though she is an adult she has the child mentality of what to say about her father. Thanks for your reply
