How Long After Conviction Will a Domestic Violence Charge Show Up
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New york
I was naiive and young and in an abusive relationship with an older man, well one day he assaulted me in the middle of the street in front of my friend and ripped my clothes off! I was mortified and in shock. Rather than going to the police my friend took me to the hospital. At the hospital, my injuries were documented. Well heres where it gets interesting, my ex called the police on me! Being that he called first according to Nassau county law I got arrested even though I showed signs of abuse. He cut his hand on a flower pot, and the detective tried to charge me with felony assault with a deadly weapon! He was like a football player, and I was a hundred pounds, I really got screwed over. A restraining order was issued, yet he continued to call me every day and try to get back with me and not press charges. I played the messages for my lawyer who got the da to charge me with a fine because they saw I was not guilty! Had I not been a struggling college student I wouldve went to court spent the 10g and had everything dismissed. Stupid me listened to my dad and pleaded to a fine. I teach but had to explain my situation to the board of ed for clearance, I want to teach overseas, its been ten yrs since the "fine" for the class e fine will this show up on my apostilled background check?

Forever, a criminal record is not like a credit report.
