How to Drop Charges in Florida
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I recently had an incident that ended in my cousin, with whom I was living (along with my mother and step-father), destroying a good bit of my property, most notably a Gemeinhardt flute that, when purchased, was worth around $600.
Leesburg authorities were called and he was taken to jail, and I believe (though I've since left and haven't spoken with the three of them since) he was bailed out the very next day.
Recently, I was contacted by another family member who is offering compensation for the flute and wants me to drop charges. Is there any way to do just that and settle everything outside a courtroom?

You can call the prosecutor handling the issue and express your concerns to drop the charges but ultimately, it is not up to you. They can continue to prosecute.
