Starting Visitation With a Three-Year-Old Child
This sounds terrible but a one night stand from Ohio right before I moved to TN ended up pregnant. I got a message one day that she was pregnant and it was mine. She didn't want a test while she was pregnant so afterwards we had a DNA tests ran. The baby was mine but then she disappeared for over a year with no contact. The baby was a 1 1/2 years old before I finally heard from her and was only to set up child support. At this point I'm not really sure what to do because another man had been raising the kid and she was pushing for adoption once she got married. Well I was trying to be nice and didn't want to complicate things with the child so I made the mistake of letting it ride for awhile. Now the child is 3 and that guy is long gone. I finally got to meet him and have made several trips to Ohio to see him. Now that she has a new man since, she is being stubborn and very short. I would like to get visitation at least once a month in tn since that is home and also where his grandparents live. Nothing is actually established so I'm wondering what to expect going into this before I lawyer up. Any help would be appreciated.

You're likely going to have a phased-in visitation plan in Mom's community to begin with.

After that, I think it's a good idea to hop over to deltabravo.net to get an idea what to expect with out of state visitation for an infant.

You will want to file for custody and visitation. I do suggest that you get an attorney to help you and that you file in the jurisdiction in which the child lives.
