Residency Requirement Not Met
My question involves marriage law for the Country of Jamaica:
I was married in Jamaica in 2004 arriving as a cruiseship passenger. It has recently been brought to my attention that there is a 24 hour residency rquirement in Jamaica before marriage. We arrived in Jamaica at 7am that morning and were married before noon that day. We are both US citizens and had this planned through third party. Because I have what appears to be a valid marriage certificate, I am now concerned that it is actually void because this requirement was not met.
Re: Residency Requirement Not Met
You will probably want to contact the proper authorities in Jamaica to ask your question of them.

Or, alternatively, you might want to re-explore your honeymoon and renew your vows. Territorial waters start 12 miles from shore via the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea. Though you cannot prove you are married, you cannot prove you are not.
