Turning Left Across the Median
My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: CA
I received a citation for turning left into a gas station across median. I was cited for 21651 (a) vehicle code Center Median. I thought it was legal to enter. The motorcycle officer was parked on the sidewalk across an intersection apparently watching this situation. This is a station at the corner of Spring Rd and Los Angeles Ave in Moorpark, CA.
Any chance I was cited incorrectly here?
Re: 21651 (A) Center Median
Does not seem like it. You cannot cross the zipper at all on E. LA and on Spring, you must pass the double yellow, enter the shopping center and double back through their parking lot.
Re: 21651 (A) Center Median
... Or simply make a U-Turn within the intersection and then enter the gas station.
Re: 21651 (A) Center Median
U-turns are not legal here. I never think of them consciously. You are correct, they could be legal there.

More often than not, and unless a U-Turn is specifically allowed, I would not recommend making one. In this case, and as you can see by the sign posted on the signal arm on the opposite end of the intersection, it clearly is allowed from the left most turn lane.
