Wow, "50 shades of grey" on Friday night. I think it is against TOS to say that here.

Are you not reading anything - the form, or what you've been told?

We cannot explain to you the terms of a form we have never seen. It is impossible. If you believe otherwise, tell me what book is sitting on the table by my right arm, then tell me what it says on page 43.

Re: Family Visitor - Charity Care in Emergency
    OP,

If you could afford to have her visit, you could (and should) have taken travel medical insurance especially if her insurance from her home country did not cover her visit here - and especially if she had none. Why should others be responsible for her medical care? You were cheap and now you need to get out your checkbook.

My family has had 4 hospitalizations in the last year; I am trying to pay for them and I certainly don't need her bill added onto mine.

If she uses emergency medicaid, it could affect her ability to return in the future since she has proven to be a "public charge". By the way, emergency medicaid is limited to emergency care. Followup care at a physician's office or rehab facility is not likely to be covered. When it is not, expect to pay up front to be seen or sign financial responsibility contracts; offices are getting much more strict since they have not been paid in so many cases and cannot afford to work for free. You will find it cheaper to send her home as soon as she can travel.

You were foolish to bring any visitor without making sure they had adequate medical insurance for the duration of their visit; you will get no sympathy from those of us paying the bills.

My question involves public health law in the State of: NJ
My mom who is here is feeling really sick at the moment.
If we go in emergency would her treatment be covered under charity care?
Her legal status would be B1 visitor visa.
    Please let me know.

There appear to be free and income based health care clinics in NJ.

Check the following website to find one in your town:

    http://www.freemedicalsearch.org/sta/new_jersey

What happens when she gets there is anybody's guess. But take her anyway and address the bill (if any) later.
