Student Loan Frozen and in Default Due to Cosigner's Bankruptcy
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Wisconsin
Years ago I got a student loan (private student loan, I guess a private one does not have the same stipulations as a non-private one) with my dad as the co-signer. Well, he just filed bankruptcy, his lawyer of course missed this loan under his name and now I have a collection agency calling/writing. I looked up my credit report and it just says it's a closed account. I always made my payments and would still like to do so, I was sending payments to the place i got my loan to start out with AES. They now have rejected my last payment. NCO financial systems Inc out of Deleware now has this loan/debt. I do not want the interest to keep racking up however, I've heard this place is a scam...what should I do? Also my dad filed the bankruptcy where he IS paying the debts back so this won't go away.
Thank you

Is the issue here that the automatic stay is still in effect?
