Can Citation Be Changed in Mail
My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: California
I received a citation for not wearing a seatbelt. I signed citation and two days later i got a letter saying the seatbelt ticket was changed to a speeding ticket. I wasn't speeding and there are no recorded mph on citation at all. Can this be possible and what to do?
Re: Can Citation Be Changed in Mail
You plead not guilty via TBD or go directly to court to plead your case.
Re: Can Citation Be Changed in Mail
Yes, it can be changed.
The officer files a form with the court amending the citation and you are sent a copy by mail notifying you of the change.
You can then plead you case with the court as noted above.
Re: Can Citation Be Changed in Mail
Why did the officer initially stop you? Was it for alleged speeding or the seatbelt violation?

What are the original and amended code sections?
