Shoplifted Last Year, Never Caught.am I Safe
My question involves criminal law for the state of: MA
So last year I got involved with some friends who weren't great influences and I went through a few month shoplifting phase. Never anything big, and I'd never lift more than one thing at a time. I'd lift a lipgloss one time, a mascara the next, etc. By the time my few month phase was over, it all totaled to 5 items. Even if I had lifted all of these items at once--and not weeks apart from each other--their cost altogether would not exceed $100.
However, the lifting itself was usually done at one store. A high-end cosmetics store with cameras. I was never caught, stopped, or even suspected by any employees. Probably because I'm your typical little blonde girl and was VERY discreet. I know, shame on me, I'm going to confession for it.
I'm paranoid that they'll find me and charge me because they found out about one of the instances. It's been a year and I visit the place regularly (I am a frequent buyer who knows the associates by name). If nearly a year has passed since the events, am I in the clear?
