What to Do About a Stolen Money Order
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio: bought money order on August 1st 2013, for rent thought landlord was at tenant house above me to pick up rent(his car was parked in backyard) daughter took rent up to give to him i called him and asked had he received it he said no (he's a corrections officer) asked neighbor what happened she stated she looked at envelope realized it was for the landlord told her husband to take it back downstairs to me he said he knocked on my door and got no response i said why didn't you slide it up under the door he started to change the subject called western union to see if it was cashed they said yes notified landlord no worries for me good tenant pay rent on time for 2 yrs now i am moving next month he will take it from security deposit not much 143.00 i am on section8 money order was never returned to me or received by the landlord sent information in as requested by western union i would hope to receive my money as well as press charges and to find out by who and where it was cashed ( i filled in my name address but didn't fill in payable to because he does that at his bank.they even through the signed intent to move paper that was in their i am furious my negligence i admit but they should have just give it back.

Did you have a question? I would file a police report, so when it comes back they cashed it, you can attempt to press charges. I suspect it will have been amended to John Landlord or Joe Neighbor.

If the money order was stolen, report the theft to the police and to Western Union.

Leaving the payee blank is foolish. I hope you've learned why you should never do that again.
