Will I Go to Jail for Embezzlement
Hi there recently I have been charge with embezzlement for over 1000 and below 20,000 in the company for Kroger I am really scared of the outcome and my court is scheduled for next week. I have stolen 1150, I have never committed anything bad before and this is my first defense I am 19 years old will I be send to jail? This is really my first defense and I have never done anything bad before. I am still currently attending high school and will be going in as a senior this year and I live in the state of Michigan. I am just so scared of what the outcomes might be. I am just wondering what might happen. Will I have to do a jail time?

We don't have a crystal ball. Only the judge who issues the sentence against you will be able to answer that question. You might get jail time, you might get probation, be ordered to pay restitution, or any combination of these.

No one and I mean NO ONE makes their first experience in stealing grand theft. I'm sure you mean that you've never committed anything before where you got CAUGHT, but you don't up and steal $1150 out of no where.

And why are you 19 and an entering senior in high school?

It's possible that the theft occurred in small amounts over a period of months, and that this is the aggregate amount.

You need to talk to your lawyer about HYTA, a deferral program in Michigan (of sorts) for offenders between the ages of 17 and 21, that can allow you to avoid conviction on your record.
