I Don't Pay Child Support
My question involves child support in the State of: Colorado
My ex-wife and my 16-year old daughter live in Colorado while I live in another country.
My ex-wife had successfully kept her whereabouts hidden from me for over 10 years and during this time I had no contact with my daughter. 2 years ago through a private investigator I was able to find them living in Colorado as naturalised citizens. I went to Colorado and filed a court case for parental responsibility (so that I could meet my daughter). The final verdict of the court was for me to pay child support and have shared parental decision-making.
As it proved to me that my ex-wife would not really share parental decision-making and take advantage of my living in another country, my daughter was really only interested in seeing me as an ATM machine, I decided to let them be on their own as they were before I found them. I have no contact with them now and I do not pay child support as ordered by court.
My question is:
a) what would initiate an arrest warrant being issued? (would my ex-wife have to approach court for this?, is it automatically issued?)
b) will I be notified for an arrest warrant if issued?
c) how I can find out if there is an arrest warrant out for me?
d) if I restart child support payment then for how long do I have to pay? (what age my daughter has to be for me to end child support?)
Re: I Don't Pay Child Support
A) Your ex would likely have to pursue it in court.
B) No. Makes it harder to arrest you.
C) Hire an attorney to find out.
D) You would need to pay off your arrears, and keep up the payments until whenever your court order says to stop.
