Cyber-Solitication of a Minor Across State Lines
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Texas
I noticed that most laws are the same regarding the online solicitation of a minor. In TX Texas Penal Code - Section 33.021. Online Solicitation Of A Minor simplifies it as follows in secion
(b) A person who is 17 years of age or older commits an offense if, with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desire of any person, the person, over the Internet or by electronic mail or a commercial online service, intentionally:
(1) communicates in a sexually explicit manner with a minor;
Since this is cyber (facebook) and occured last year in April with my daughter, who was 14 at the time, and the perv may have been in Maryland, who has jurisdiction AND is there a statute of limitations with these sorts of crimes?:livid:

Has your daughter continued to communicate with the perv?
If so, how well do you monitor her online activity?
Re: Cyber Solicitation / Minor - Tx: Jurisdiction and Statute of Limitations
I wasn't monitoring at all until last night (bad on me). I've confirmed via phone records that contact was a recent as this past April (2013). So, yes...the perve continued communication.

I'd go down to your local police dept with your daughter in tow and speak to someone there. I wouldn't have them come out to your home as it would be a waste of resources.
Definitely monitor the web activity - even on the smartphone if she has one.

Thanks. I'm monitoring everything now. I reported it to the police yesterday and it's been given to investigators. We're now waiting to hear from the investigators.
