Caught Shoplifting in New Jersey, No Police Called
My question involves criminal law for the state of: New Jersey

I was caught shoplifting at a TJ Maxx in New Jersey. They did not call the police but they took my information. They told me never to come back to the store but did not mention anything about a fine or civil demand. Will I receive one in the mail? They did not make me pay for the items which were only worth about $20.

You can count on a Civil Demand arriving in the mail.

Do you have any idea how long that takes to come?

It won't be long. Pay it immediately to avoid the amount increasing and potentially criminal action being taken.

It depends on how busy the stores lawyers are......
