    Emancipation from My Grandparents
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Louisiana

Hello I am a 15 year old boy in Jonesville, Louisiana. I need help as to if I can get emancipated when I am 16. As to the reason why I was giving over to my grandparents when I was younger because my real parents could not support me. I have always kept in touch with my real parents and always went to visit them, yet recently my grandparents have refused to let me go see my father but would willingly let me live with my mother because she is more "Mature". They fail to give me a valid reason as to why I can not see my father and even when he has a stable job while my mother does not. I would also like to file for emancipation because of the emotional and verbal abuse they have put me through the last year or so. I came out of the closet as a pansexual and that I was and still am dating a boy, they have hated me ever since then. They constantly bash my sexuality reffering to me as a "Homo" "Faggot" "Queer", the list goes on for a while.. They have done this for a year now and I don't know how much longer I can take it.. I was cringing on the floor in pain from my stomach recently and my grandmother refused me medication because she believed it was "The holy ghost" laying his hand apon me and taking my "Gay sins" away. I cannot deal with being here anymore. I had to go to my friends house just to get some proper medication. I just want to know if this is enough probable cause to get emancipation from my grandparents. [Edit] I would also like to add the fact that I am setting up living arrangments with my friend out of state and am planning on getting a job part time while I attend school. I will be paying for half the apartment with my friend when I move.

Emancipation means you are already supporting yourself 100% - not living with a friend. You have a full-time job, while getting good grades at school. You pay 100% of your own support - rent, utilities, food, transportation, health insurance, etc...
In other words...it ain't gonna happen.

If you feel your grandparents are that abusive towards you, you can ask your mom if she can regain custody of you (if she still has custody, then you can move in with her at any time). Or you can call Dept of Children and Families to report the abuse.

They refuse me the liberty of leaving any longer unless it is with my mom, she lives in a one bedroom trailer and can barely support herself. I could not do that to her, make her support me while she can barely support herself. I cannot get a full time job either, school is starting soon and there is no way that is possible. There is no way I cannot support myself 100% if they don't allow me to leave my house anymore. The only way I am going to be able to leave is by going to school or to go to work in near future. I already have a job position at a family owned buisness thats nearby, but my grandparents have told me they will be taking any earning I make because "I don't deserve the money". Is there really no way I can get away from them?

Not unless your parents go for custody.

Sorry, until your parent(s) regain custody of you, or you turn 18...it's Grandparents house, Grandparents rules.

You could also talk to a school counselor when school starts and see if they can help you with Dept of Children and Families. It may mean Foster Care, but it may be a better option for you.

If you cannot support yourself, then you do not qualify for emancipation.

I can support myself, I have made living arrangments with a childhood friend who needs a roommate. I will not be living off him but supporting my half of the bills and living expenses.

    Re: Emancipation
Your guardians are not required to allow you a social life. Wanting to play with your friends is not a right.Obviously, your "cringing on the floor" was not a serious medical issue or the friend would not have been able to "fix you". Just as you dislike their view on pan-sexuality, they dislike yours. Notice they did not kick you out onto the street for it and instead attempted to shorten your leash in their own attempt to "help" you. What is apparent is this will be your first lesson in responsibility and family. I suggest you learn how to bridge the acceptance gap. They are more entitled to their views than you are yours. They earned them over a lifetime.

    1. Homosexual- G'Pa calling me that is doing a dis-service to all the woman I want to have sex with in my life.
    2. Faggot- G'Pa calling me that might be true, but would you like it if I started calling you a "narrow minded old fool with his head in his arse"? That is true also.
3.Queer- G'Pa, face it, I am queer. You have nothing to worry about though, I don't have a fetish for sleeping old men or defaming upside down bar stools.

No, that's supporting yourself 50%. The judge is going to want to know what you are going to do if your friend kicks you out, or gets hit by a bus, or moves to Australia.
