3rd Degree Retail Fraud Michigan
My question involves criminal law for the state of: MI
I am currently 20, 19 at the time. I was stopped after leaving JC Penny, brought back in by store security and the value of the items taken was set at $107. I was asked to fill out several forms, the police were not called and I was not arrested. I received an Appearance Notice to go to the police department at a later date during a two hour time interval.
I was told I would be receiving a notice from the store in the mail, I never received anything from them.
I'll be going to the police department to "answer the complaint", but I am not sure what any of it means. I haven't received any other information and I am unaware of what is to happen next. I'd like to ask the Judge for HYTA but I don't know if that is what I should be doing at my appearance or if there are more steps before then.

You will want to take a Criminal Defense Attorney with you to the Police Department.
The Civil Demand can take time to arrive.
