Former Employer Claims I Cannot Contact Clients
I was recently told by a former employer that I could not reach out to any organization that I had previously solicited business from. I read the employer agreement and it specifically mentions policy holders only even in reference to firms or organizations. They have recently contacted the organization which I had a partnership with and told them that based on the contract agreement they are prohibited from contacting me or doing business with me although this appears not to be true. Can I sue them for this?
Re: Former Manager Uses Scare Tactics to Prohibit Business Opportunities
When you showed the employer agreement to an attorney in your unnamed state, what did he say?
Re: Former Manager Uses Scare Tactics to Prohibit Business Opportunities
I have not shown it to one yet. Sorry. But the verbiage is pretty clear. At the end of every sentence pertaining to the issue it says policy holder.
Re: Former Manager Uses Scare Tactics to Prohibit Business Opportunities
Well, since I can't read it from here, you're probably best served by showing it to one.
Re: Former Manager Uses Scare Tactics to Prohibit Business Opportunities
I suggest you investigate "tortuous interference with a business relationship", before soliciting their customers.
Re: Former Manager Uses Scare Tactics to Prohibit Business Opportunities
Your former manager may have been referring to the organization's contract with your former employer, not your contract. If that's the case, you definitely have no recourse.
