I Would Like Custody of My Sister
My mom passed away a about 5 years ago, about 2 weeks before her divorce from a horrible man was finalized. My 5 year old sister was placed into a foster care until the case went to court for custody. I was barely legal, living with my boyfriend and not working at the time. I testified in his defense, stating as long as he agreed to let me see her, he could have custody, but only after he finalized AA, and rehab for drugs. He was ordered to do anger management, and parenting classes, and the state released custody to him.

I have not seen my sister since then. He left, and denied my mothers side of the family any visitation. I have been contacted very recently by an ex of his, regarding my sister, that he is heavily drinking and doing drugs again. Also been informed he drives with her drunk, and is extermely mentally, emotionally, and physically abusive to her. I have contacted the state CPS and informed my case, however It has been 2 days and have heard nothing back. THey live about 300 miles away. I do not have the money for a lawyer, but I am terrified for her. I am not sure what to do or where to go, but I need help. I have seen this man abuse my mom while she was alive, and he went in and out of rehabilitation centers. We have never, EVER, gotten along due to his abusive past, and I would love to take custody of my sister. It has been a few years, I have a baby of my own, am getting married in 3 weeks, and we have a beautiful home. I am financially, mentally and more than capable to take my sister on and get her the help she needs to change her future. However, lawyers are expensive. I will do what ever it takes, but I am at a loss of what to do next. I just keep hearing the case is pending the case is pending, someone is looking into it.

please help me. I am not sure what to do, or where to go.

That was probably not the "Technical" term to use. When I call the CPS, in the city where she is located, they state it is pending, someone is looking into it, and they will contact me.

What is pending? Did someone report that dad is abusing or neglecting his child?

Re: I Would Like Custody of My Sister
I recieved a phone call from an ex of his stating I needed to contact CPS, that she is in a bad place and he was mentally abusing her. She stated she thinks he is physically and sexually abusing her as well. She would leave the house, and my sister would call her crying because she was afraid to be alone.

This ex contacted me through social media sites, and told me that she knew where she was and to contact CPS. I contacted them, gave them as much information as I knew, they spoke with the EX girlfriend, and it has been 2 days of waiting, whith no response. I feel like a sitting duck. My sister could be getting abused now, I have no idea what is going on. She is barely 9 years old, and I am terrified for her. I have been trying to get a contact order through the state for about 9 months, but have recieved no luck so far, untill I recieved that gastly phone call regarding her, and am now at a loss
