Signing Rights Over

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: have been paying child support for three years, but haven't seen the child in little over nine years. What would I have to do in order to sign over the rights for the child? I have no way in contact the other parent and haven't spoken to them in over nine years as well. Last time I saw the child was when he was four.:grumpy:

There is no "signing rights over". If the other parent is married and the spouse would like to adopt the child, you can consent to that, but elsewise, no. You helped make the baby, you are legally obligated to help support it, whether you exercise visitation or not.

Which leads one to wonder if you've filed for formal visitation through the courts? If not, why not?

No one can help you without knowing your state of residence, however the likelihood of signing your rights over without knowing where mom and child are are slim to none. Even if you did know where they were the mother of the child would have to agree with you signing over your rights and have a husband willing to adopt the child.

This is not a play to pay situation. You helped to create this child, you need to support the child.
