Modification of Custody Due to Domestic Violence in Front of the Children
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Ohio
A few months ago my boyfriend and I got into a fight in front of his two kids that he shares custody with his ex. The fight did get physical by him and his ex took him to court to try and get full custody because of it. The court said that no guy that his ex is with and no girl that he is with can be around the kids for a year, but it can be reevaluated in 6 months. Also that my bf needs to get his own place (we were living together and he went to his parents when he had his kids because his x did not want me around the kids after our fight). He also needs to continue going to therapy which he started after the fight we had because he does have anger problems. What can we do to make sure that this order is lifted in 6 months when they go back to court? His x has always hated me and doesn't want us to be together. My boyfriend is going to follow what the court said.

There is no "we" here.
When he goes back to court in 6 months, he'll have to convince the judge that he's better. If he can't convince the judge, then the order will stand for another 6 months.
Wake up, lady, he's an abuser. That's probably why his wife left him. And you can bet he'll beat the crap out of you again. You might even wind up dead, like so many abused women who are stupid enough to accept abuse.

I know it sounds like he is an abuser but it really isn't like that. He didn't beat the crap out of me or anything. I would not continue to be with someone like that.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
