Can You Get Emancipated if You're Pregnant
My question involves juvenile law in the State of: florida

Hello everyone i'm 15 going to be 16 in a week . I am pregnant at 4 and a half weeks. Me and the baby daddy are no longer together. I live with my adopted parents . I want to get emancipated , But they will not sign it or help me take care of the child . They wanted me to get a abortion I'm against that and will raise my kid fine. I have gone ahead and jumped a grade in school i'm not a junior . I need to know how I can get emancipated in florida without parents consent . The issue is worse then me just wanting to . They work on the pipeline for months at a time and they leave me with my brother who is 29 years old . They really don't care about me my dad is a abusive drinker and so is my mom. I just want out of this house period. I have a place to live with the father of my childs family and I can get a part time job. But I am not sure how to go about getting emancipated . Sorry if its hard to understand . I'm upset right now and need to know asap. Thanks

Not going to happen. Getting knocked up at your age means you need more supervision, not less.

There isn't a court in the land going to emancipate a pregnant child who needs more - not less - supervision. They certainly won't do so in order for the minor to go and live with the person who impregnated her.

Even better the parents MUST be the ones petitioning on behalf of the minor.

Sorry - not going to happen.

Please read the "stickied" threads. Do some research yourself.

THEY didn't MAKE the child. You and the father did. If you need help raising the child, time to turn to the father, for child support, if nothing else. However, given that the father impregnated you when under 16, the father will be facing CRIMINAL charges.

You can always contact your local social services office and see if they can assist with getting a placement in a teen mother group home, but you lost any chance of emancipation the moment you got pregnant. That in and of itself tells judges that you need a lot MORE supervision, not less - as it shows an intense lack of responsibility.

If you are going to make a baby, then YOU and the FATHER need to also be prepared to support your baby. It's YOUR responsibility, not his parents, not your parents. YOURS. That means getting jobs ASAP and being at those jobs at every possible moment when not at school or caring for the child.

In Florida, unless the parents of the minor who wants to emancipate will file the petition, emancipation will not happen. Period. Even if they do, it's not guaranteed by a long shot. But if they won't, it's dead in the water. No loopholes, no exceptions. If you (or your girlfriend, if applicable) is/are pregnant, tough cookies. No parental signature, no emancipatioin.

In all 50 states, if a couple of teenagers make a baby, then those teenagers are the ones who are responsible for paying for it. NOT the parents of those teenagers.

...and if the teenagers in question want to get sniffy about taking responsibility for the baby they made - your party days are OVER, kids - then maybe they SHOULD consider termination. Find yourself a teen mom support group immediately, preferably one led by a medical professional, so we aren't hearing on the news later that you shook your baby to death. You've chosen a very hard life for yourself, one that will cause you immense stress and strain.

Also, if you're going to indulge in recreational sheet dancing, you'd do well to get your sniffy, entitled little backside down to Planned Parenthood for some education and contraception.
