Juvenile released to non parent after 11-105 ny
1)is it still possible for the retailer to seek civil claim when they never contacted the parent/guardian to retrieve the child.
2)what protection is there from someone claiming to be someone elses child
    if this is legal.
3)why can they go beyond the 5x limit set as penalty and threaten and levy
    pretrial litigation fees
4)can they go beyond there original demand when questioned (as they Have from 183.00 to 486.00 but sportingly willing to settle for 256.00)
5)Finally since this petty larceny was done as a group of 3 girls ( my daughter being one)and released to one of the parents, is this a joint offense
with a 500 limit shared as co-obligators .since they were released to one of the adults(which never contacted me)
    thank you for you consideration
retailer is citing 11-105 of the gob of new york
yes i've read it and the mechandise is still saleable ,it never left the store
    for a value of 39.00

You're objecting that a minor, whom you believed to be old enough to go off shopping alone, was released into the custody of a friend's parent after being caught stealing? What harm resulted?

They can make any civil demand they want within the context of the state's civil demand laws, and are free to settle for a lower amount than they initially demand.
